A proven solution to reduce young drivers' car accident rates
Guardian designed The Apprentice program to save young drivers' lives.
Guardian is presenting a simple solution to help reduce risks to your child when he or she is new to driving. In the form of an online contract, this model has proven successful in considerably reducing the accident rate among young drivers.
Apprentice is also a support program aimed at encouraging discussion and improving communication with your child - with whom it can be sometimes difficult to broach the subject of road safety.
Goal
The Apprentice program makes young drivers aware of the realities of driving today and shows them how to take on the responsibilities required. Having already proven effective in Canada and the U.S., this model emphasizes a dialogue between you and your child. And that leads to a learning and knowledge base that can only be beneficial.
Plus, your child can take advantage of a parental guide when he or she is learning to drive. It’s also the perfect time for new drivers to show you that they are quite capable of taking on the responsibilities involved and proving their maturity behind the wheel.
For peace of mind…
It can be a worry to see your child behind the wheel and driving for the first time. Also, it can be difficult to talk about your worries with the new driver.
Apprentice is a key solution:
- It helps you discuss your concerns with your child
- At the same time it also promotes safe driving and how to avoid fatal accidents
- For the young driver, it shows how to drive safely and provides strong motivation by treating the young driver as an adult.
Apprentice is based on a mutual commitment. By signing this contract, you both commit to driving responsibly, under any circumstances. You’ll appreciate the quiet pleasure of advising your child as he or she learns to drive, all with peace of mind.

On the right track…for a safe trip!
Guardian is sponsoring the Apprentice program in order to promote safe driving - both for the parent as well the young driver.
Presented in the form of an online contract, Guardian provides easy-to-follow steps to be part of the program. Signing up for the program also has the advantage of leading to mutual trust and respect between parent and young driver.
The program features the following steps:
- Together, the parent and the young driver complete an online contract.
- A confirmation email is then sent to the parent as well as the young driver.
- One month later, the first follow-up emails are sent to the parent and young driver.
- Thereafter, 4 quarterly follow-up emails are sent to the parent and young driver.
